A panorama of Astronomy in the coming decade
Observatoire de la Côte d'Azur, CS 34229, 06304 Nice Cedex 4, France
This presentation was done as an introductive lesson at the summer school BasMatI (Bases Mathématiques pour l'instrumentation et le traitement du signal en Astronomie) held in Porquerolles in June 2015. The goal is to present the main scientific questions in Astrophysics as well as the main instrumental developments the astronomical community is considering for the next decade. In a first part of this paper, I will present the recent prospective exercise concluded in October 2014 by the Institut National des Sciences de l'Univers (INSU of CNRS) as well as the European ASTRONET Science Vision and Infrastructure Roadmap, updated in 2014. I will then present the main instruments the French astronomical community is using and developing.
