Winds, atmosphere and spectral modelling of massive hot stars

In this review, we focus on the winds of standard massive stars of spectral types O and B. We introduce the fundamental parameters that are used to characterize the stellar winds and we describe the various techniques available nowadays to derive the wind properties. The latter are reviewed and interpreted in the framework of the standard theory of line-driven winds.
