Jean-Louis Leroy: a pioneer

Abstract
This meeting was dedicated to Jean-Louis Leroy, who
pioneered polarimetry in French astronomy, and who is one of the
leading experts in the field. He applied this diagnostics tool
to better understand various astrophysical objects: the Sun, comets, stars,
the interstellar medium. Some of his major achievements will be
recalled here.
